WIKIINHA: Helpers for freshmen

There are times when everyone is confused about what to do when they first come to the university. Some people try to help freshmen. They are WIKIINHA. If you are interested in helping freshmen, please watch this interview!

The Inha Times (IT): Please introduce WIKIINHA!

WIKIINHA: WIKIINHA is a community club for the freshman at Inha University. We provide the news about Inha University and information on what university freshmen need to know. We are using Facebook, Instagram and Kakao Talk plus friends as the media, which allows us to communicate with them. And, also, we throw offline meetings before the semester starts to proceed recreations, lectures, and campus tours.

IT: Tell me about how you started WIKIINHA in the first place.

WIKIINHA: WIKIINHA was started from CCC, which is the university central club in 2010. Senior members of CCC created a website in CYWORLD to try to help freshmen. At that time, they had difficulty adapting because there was less information about university or tips for school life. So, seniors decided to give the information which they learned by trial and error. Through this, juniors could be eased off concerns or burdens. This how WIKIINHA started.

IT: What was the most rewarding moment while doing WIKIINHA?

WIKIINHA: We felt rewarded mostly when we go ahead of offline meeting, which is WIKIINHA's biggest event. We were so happy to be able to see and talk to freshmen. Usually, we don't have a chance to meet directly because we are active in online. Especially we were pleased when we received feedback about the meeting like ‘I was able to get the amount of valuable information.’, ‘Thanks to the offline meeting I can learn many things.’

IT: Then, what was the most difficult moment when doing WIKIINHA?

WIKIINHA: Sometimes we were so distressed when we got comments criticizing WIKIINHA or unwelcome news about WIKIINHA on freshman bulletin board. Every team member makes content and plans the offline meeting by using personal time. So, when we see the one-sided criticizing, not just feedback, it is so hard because it feels like our effort ignored.

IT: What are your plans for WIKIINHA?

WIKIINHA: Actually, we planned quite the same as every year! We keep making content, uploading it, and planning offline meetings. For now, we will keep uploading posts until March, also plan offline meetings. We are not sure if there will be many freshmen due to the prevalence of the coronavirus, but all the team members are doing their best to prepare for it.

IT: What would you like to say something to freshman at Inha University?

WIKIINHA: Hello, Freshmen entering Inha University. Congratulations on your admission to Inha University! If you have any questions about your school life, please don't hesitate to ask us by WIKIINHA KAKAO Plus Friend.
