Today, the most important area in the Information and Communication sector is Big Data, and there are many clubs that deal with Big Data according to the trend of the world. In particular, there is an association club that treats about big data, ‘BITAmin.’ The Inha Times became interested because the BITAmin club was a coalition club of students from other university, including Inha University. So The Inha Times conducted an interview with Joo Eun-hyuk, a 15th grader in the Department of Statistics at Inha University, a member of the BITAmin.

The Inha Times(IT) : Please introduce about the ‘BITAmin’ briefly.

BITAmin : ‘BITAmin’ is Big Data College Alliance Club. This is scholarship club that focuses on the Programming by analysis of data and study about associated knowledge with the era in which a lot of data is generated with the 4th Industrial Revolution. The club activities include ' Foundation Lecture about Big Data ', 'R Programming’, ‘Machine Running’, ‘Deep Learning study', 'progress a Big Data Conference at every semester' and 'External Presentations and Activities Participate about Big Data'.

IT : Please describe the background about the creation of ‘BITAmin’.

BITAmin :  Although many universities are learning data analysis through a practical class, the majority of the classes based on the theory, and it is difficult to do any operation or project that's analyzed with real data. In order to solve these problems, we low made the entry barriers to practical experience

Apart from our club, there are big data federated clubs. However, these clubs have very high standards, so it is hard to keep up with only interests about doing data analysis and college lessons. So we've customized the program so that even the first students in the programing can do the project.

IT :  What is the special goal of BITAmin?

BITAmin : The goal of our club is that first time adopters about the field of data analysis learn easily and meticulously at the beginning, and finally they participate in the project with learned knowledge and take a step closer to the path of data scientist. So, we're all welcoming 'who was always interested in big data but didn't know how to start', 'who wanted to do a project that analyze data directly' and 'who wanted to do a various seminars and studies related the big data'

IT :  What do you think about the reason why the competition rate is 10:1?

BITAmin :  As above mention, we can start without the basic knowledge unlike other data analysis clubs, and the barrier to entry is very low, so the others major students are enough to keep up the activity. That is, the reason why our club is popular is that anyone who is interested in big data can be together. Also, I think that our club is very popular because our club has been verified through the winning experience of the "2019 Weather Big Data Contest" and "Dacon 8th Competitive."

IT :  What do you want to say to Inha University and other university students?

BITAmin :  I consulted with the professor once. At that time, I told the professor, "I want to participate in a public contest, but I don't think I'll be able to participate because I'm still immature on it." Professor Lee said, "There is no start with perfect preparation. Attempt it without anything." And I'm still living by inscriptions of this way. If college students have something they want to do, don't avoid it and try it constantly!
