Lately the number of people who crave to shoot their own movies or web dramas are rapidly increasing. Here, at Inha University, is a club filming movies as well. So the Inha Times interviewed them, ‘lighthouse’.

The Inha Times(IT) : Give us a short introduction of ‘Lighthouse’.

Lighthouse : Lighthouse is the only club of Inha University that makes films. It was established in 1988 so it has been 30 years since this club was made. We’ve been learning movies through watching and making a film for real and having a lot of discussions as well. We are always waiting for someone that can shine his/her own light in us, ‘Lighthouse’.

The Inha Times(IT) : What is a goal of Lighthouse?

Lighthouse : As a film-making club our goal is to make a real movie by ourselves of course. But what makes it special is that we are all non-professionals of movie. From writing a scenario to edit the video we do everything by ourselves struggling through all difficulties. That fact makes our club and our goal more special I think.

The Inha Times(IT) : Is there any difficulty in making a film?

Lighthouse : Since we do everything by ourselves we need to teach and learn from each other which might not be that professional or systematic. But still we can share our knowledge about movies with anyone with passion. Also when it comes to equipment, in contrast to the students in department of theater and film, we cannot borrow it easily. So we usually ask for a help to offices of other majors or buy it with our membership fee.

The Inha Times(IT) : What is the most important factor of a movie?

Lighthouse : We think the most important facto r of movie is ‘a scenario’. Since it requires so much time and money to make a movie, we need to be careful from its first step, a nice scenario. So all our members spend a lot of time studying and writing it.

The Inha Times(IT) : Is there any special attraction that Lighthouse has only among various clubs at Inha University?

Lighthouse : If you join our club you will definitely find our own attraction! Though our club has a 30-year-long history, we don’t have any strict limitations give any pressure on our members to participate. But the more you participate the more you will be able to get. Also there’s a beam projector at our club room so you can enjoy movies whenever you want!

The Inha Times(IT) : What is the most impressive movie that you guys made? Give us a brief introduction of it.

Lighthouse : The most impressive movie that we made is ‘Key’, the movie of the 32th Lighthouse film festival. It’s focusing on friendship and conflicts between two female friends in a university which can commonly happen. We made a contrast between lives of those two girls. And also its ending is interesting as well.

The Inha Times(IT) : Tell us about some future plans of Lighthouse.

Lighthouse : Now we are preparing ‘Home Coming Day’ for this semester with the concept of barbecue party and the outdoor screen. We are going to make it a retrospective of Lighthouse so that our seniors can remind of their memories in Lighthouse and juniors like us can get a motivation to work harder. We are going to make a new movie during this summer vacation for almost two weeks in rural. Also we will join various movie competitions or contests as well.

The Inha Times(IT) : Is there anything you want to say to Inha University students?

Lighthouse : If you are a person who like or enjoy movies, ‘lighthouse’ is always waiting for you with pleasure. Welcome to lighthouse, where you can enjoy your youth with those who love movies! We don’t have any limitation of age or class number. Don’t hesitate to knock the door of lighthouse. Thank you.
