Your Spring

Spring. When you think of spring, what's the first thing that comes to mind? First, I see a vivid picture in my head of a beautiful floral landscape in all its five colors. There's a certain order behind the seeming chaos, and the blooming flowers evoke feelings of new beginnings, positivity, and more. Nature, like a single branch floating in a lazy river, shows us the way to go through time. The arrival of spring is also often used to signify the end of hardship and the beginning of happy days. For the past three years, COVID-19 has cast a black shadow over our lives. But as if to erase this darkness and cheer us up, the grass and trees are growing greener and greener every day. Spring, full of life, is blooming with hope.

But as is the way of nature, the good times seem to be short-lived, and before we can fully appreciate 'my warm spring', we have to face the 'scorching summer', and only then do we realize that spring has been with us all along. Before we know it, summer is here. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, climate change has led to earlier spring and summer start dates and shorter winters. Already, the news and various organizations are making predictions about when spring flowers will bloom, making the hearts of flower lovers flutter. Cherry blossoms, forsythia, azaleas, magnolias... Let's capture the scent of spring in the five-color blossoms that wake up the dormant season like a weather trumpet.

Spring rains, like the blooming of flowers, symbolize the changing of the seasons. It starts out differently than winter rain, when the Siberian high pressure brings water vapor across the ocean and sprinkles rain over the Korean Peninsula. Unlike winter rain, which falls heavily over a small area, or summer rain, which is often accompanied by thunderstorms, spring rain is said to fall lightly. It's a silent rain, so it's easy to get lost in thought as you watch the drops form outside your window. So don't worry if you don't get caught up in the smell of flowers, spring rain is a great way to celebrate spring.

It's also a sign of new beginnings. It's the freshness of coming home to shed your soggy socks after a hard day's work. When the raindrops on your ankles no longer feel cold, it's the beginning of spring. Spring rains also bring a fresh, earthy smell to the land, washing away the yellow dirt and ashy dust. As the saying goes, "spring rains are rice rains," which means more work for farmers, but also a sense of hope for the year ahead. Why not soak in the spring rain and bring moisture to your dry life?

There's a lot of power behind the language. Words with "spring" in them - spring breeze, spring break, spring rain, spring flowers, spring greens - have a fragrance and freshness to them. It's a time to untangle the tangled mess of our lives and open our hearts like flowers in full bloom. Let's untangle the knots of conflict and relationships that have been holding us back, and let's breathe easier with a lighter heart. It's hard to enjoy spring when you're stuck in winter, so let's create a new spring with a spring rain of flowers and white noise to blow away our cares and help us live in the present and look forward to tomorrow. Let's give ourselves a nice adjective. The spring of life and hope, the spring of reconciliation and healing, is with you.
